THE ENAGE PROJECT

N
eet Project formally know as the ENAGE Project

Within Armley Juniors Project 4 young people we offer a wide range of services to support young people whom may find mainstream education difficult, or may have left education and are currently not engaging in activates to support the finding of employment.
We have a variety of services on offer the following are a brief outline of how we aim to help and support vulnerable young people.

Information drop in and appointment service

This services offers a drop in session for one to one information gathering and individual appointment slots with qualified Youth and Community Development officers to support the young people working together we can identify their priorites and devlop a learning/ action plan to suit their personal individual requirements. These requirement will then define what level of support and assistance is required . Individual learning/ action plans will be shared via the local authorittes data base.

Small group work sessions around informal learning

Individuals are encouraged to participate in small group work activities to boost confidence and self-esteem, Promoting participation, improve behaviour and personal outcomes.
These sessions will utilise the Youth Train package this will allow all works undertaken to be recognised by education facilities (school, colleges etc, i.e. the organisation which receives the finances attached to the young person).
Youth train allows young people an accessible informal pathway into accredited learning, which recognises the skills and talents as they develop within the young person.
Armley Juniors Project 4 Young People actively encourages such learning and fully appreciates that the Youth train package with differing levels is suitable for all young people if supported.
Armley Juniors actively supports the progress and development of young people at a pace to suit the individual, at no time, will time limits be placed upon a young person all young people are different and should be allowed to develop accordingly.
We do however insist that young people are made aware that the minimum attendance at these sessions is 8 weeks!

Small group work on CV Building, Job search and Interview ready

Individuals will be assisted and supported to compile a CV. In addition they will be shown how to effectively seek employment, be supported through a careers style interview with a member of staff attached to the jobs and skills department.
Within Armley Juniors we will undertake sessional works around role play and help prepare candidates for interviews. Staff will support the clients prepare and identify relevant clothing suitable for specific vacancies applied for.
In addition to this role we will support the client in obtaining emergency grants etc.
If a young person would rather undertake a similar program but on a one to one basis then this can be arranged by appointments usually on Mondays.

Recreational Sports and Health( Males 13-17 only)

This session will take place at Swallow Hill Community College Sports Hall This male only session incorporates football and personal skills. Communication and fair play are key components in this session. Staffs actively promote health and wellbeing into these sessions. These sessions are primarily based on recreational activity.
Yet within the sessions we are still able to focus on Children's services priorities, Have fun growing up and also are active citizens who feel they have voice and influence- Reduce youth crime and antisocial behaviour within our locality.
This session is not a fee chargeable session (to be reviewed July11) thus encourages young people to voluntarily participate in recreational activities with the aim of enjoyment not specific learning and not financially restricted.

Health and wellbeing sessions focusing on Teenage Pregnancy, young mums+ dads and parenthood.

The base for this work will be Armley Junior Open Access Zone, 26 Heights Drive but this is flexible and the service can be taken direct to where the young person feels safe and comfortable within the community of west Leeds.
